Description from the seller
Beautiful, very large XXL shell Charonia Tritonis - the common name is Triton trumpet or giant Triton, a species of very large sea snail, a mollusk in the family Charoniidae, tritons. It is one of the largest mollusks on the coral reef. The shell is thick and heavy, tightly coiled in the shape of an elongated tower. It ends sharply at the apex, gradually widening toward the aperture.
Strongly ribbed, with prominent spiral ribs and knobs. The color of the shell is most often yellowish, creamy, or brown with irregular, darker spots and bands. The aperture (shell opening) is large, wide, oval.
The interior is smooth, often orange, pink, or reddish-brown, contrasting with the outer surface of the shell. The outer lip is thick, sometimes wavy, often with delicate serrations.
Distinctive features—and due to its large size and characteristic structure it has been used in many cultures as a wind instrument (shell-trumpet).
It is valued by collectors and holds significance in art and rituals. Dimensions - 115×180×350 mm. I highly recommend it to collectors and interior decorators.
