Walter & Söhne - Centrepiece - pressed glass - Windsor

The item up for auction is an extremely striking glass central table element, preserved in the style of the turn of the Secession and early Art Deco. The vessel has the color of delicate pink glass. The greatest asset of this design is its sculptural base. The broad, strongly undulating and flared-up bowl is supported by two profile-framed, symmetrical figures of kneeling women with classical facial features and delicately arranged hair. The female figures have an elegant, matte finish that beautifully contrasts with the smooth, translucent surface of the goblet. The women seem to intertwine their hands around the body of the vessel, forming a cohesive, organic whole. The item is made of thick, solid pressed glass. This is an excellent find for collectors of antique glass and lovers of unconventional design from the era.
