Many cameras now come with GPS, but only Olympus’s GPS with electronic compass uses three sensors to determine which direction the camera is pointing (even when it is turned off). This makes it an ideal tool to find your way in an unfamiliar environment. More than 700,000 nearby geographic and natural points are also shown—the maximum for a GPS-enabled camera. At a glance you can see exactly where and at what elevation you are, the direction you are photographing, the date and time, and the air or water pressure. This model also performs brilliantly underwater. 'i Underwater Snapshot', one of the four underwater settings, detects precisely when the camera is completely underwater and automatically adjusts white balance for a beautiful result, even with the optional 3D function. The 5x optical wide‑angle zoom (28-140 mm) provides precision and flexibility under all conditions, and the 3.0-inch HyperCrystal III LCD screen ensures a beautiful and razor-sharp display.

3D photo function

Takes two photos of one scene from two different angles so that a photo is created that can be viewed with the surprising 3D effect (on a 3D-capable display). There are two 3D settings: manual and automatic. In both settings, the camera indicates when it’s time to rotate the camera. In automatic mode, when the camera is rotated horizontally after the first shot, a second shot is automatically taken at the optimal moment. The manual setting is intended for 3D experts who want to determine themselves when the second shot should be taken.

AF tracking and i-Auto function
