Description from the seller

My pieces are conceived to be companions rather than possessions.
I endow my objects with organic, animated characteristics, hoping that people become attached to them as to pets.
Vincent Decat is a Paris-based artist-designer, a graduate of the Design Academy Eindhoven, who explores the boundaries between design and sculpture. He regards the durability of an object not only through its materials, but above all through the emotional bond it evokes. By making his objects almost alive, they become companions that must be cared for, kept, and cherished.
Aorta is a chair that awakens the senses.
The veins that traverse and envelop it invite touch and interaction. This network of vessels, which runs through the entire structure and emerges from it, makes the piece feel alive and brings contact with the object.
It is composed of a metal frame coated with clay and plaster.
The piece is functional and endowed with a high seat.
It deliberately features cracks, bearing witness to its artisanal craftsmanship.

Seller's Story

"My pieces are intended to be companions rather than possessions. I give my objects organic, animated qualities, hoping that people will grow attached to them the way they would to a pet." Vincent Decat is an artist-designer based in Paris, a graduate of the Design Academy Eindhoven, who explores the boundaries between design and sculpture. He considers the durability of an object not only through its materials but primarily through the emotional connection we establish with it. By making his pieces almost alive, they become companions that need to be cared for, cherished, and preserved over time.
