The chest is robust for its age, but of course over the decades (or centuries) it has acquired a lived-in patina. The painting on the front is still well preserved, but on the lid it has been heavily worn from use. The wood has a few age-related nicks on the edges and on the lid (see photos) — this is precisely what gives it the authentic shabby-chic / antique look. The wood is dry and stable.

One of the hinges needs to be attached, but the chest still opens and closes!

Die Truhe ist dem Alter entsprechend robust, hat aber natürlich über die Jahrzehnte (oder Jahrhunderte) eine gelebte Patina bekommen. Die Malerei auf der Front ist noch gut erhalten, auf dem Deckel ist sie durch die Nutzung stark abgerieben. Das Holz hat an den Kanten und am Deckel ein paar altersbedingte Macken (siehe Bilder) – genau das macht aber den authentischen Shabby-Chic- / Antik-Look aus. Das Holz ist trocken und stabil.

Einer der Schaniere muss befestigt werden, dennoch geht die Truhe auf und zu!
