HISTORY/DOCUMENTATION
Did you know that the design of the 124 Sport Spider has Dutch roots? This has everything to do with the well-known Dutch designer Tom Tjaarda, who was then working for Pininfarina. The design is based on Tjaarda’s earlier concept for the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, which ultimately was not produced due to too much European influence. Fiat did show interest in this design, and this laid the groundwork for the Sport Spider, introduced half a year after the popular four-door Fiat 124 (in 1967). Over the years, the exterior underwent slight changes and the engines were enlarged. This eventually led to the CS1 type, equipped with a 1.8-liter engine and sold only in the United States. The specimen we offer was produced in 1974 (model year 1975) and was later imported from the favorable climate of the US to the Netherlands. Since 2022 the car has been registered in Belgium. The car comes with an extensive instruction manual and a workshop manual.
EXTERIOR
The beautiful design remains as handsome and timeless as ever. Characteristic for this model are the raised sections on the hood. On the side, the Pininfarina emblem graces the body. The striking yellow color 'Giallo Pagoda' (repainted finish) beautifully contrasts with the matte-black hood and trunk lid and gives the car a sporty look reminiscent of the Abarth version. The absence of a front bumper also contributes to this. The paintwork is in good condition. The car is fitted with alloy wheels. The black soft top is crack-free and also in good condition. The car’s lines are elegant and we have found no rust on the vehicle.
INTERIOR
The interior has been refreshed and is therefore in nice condition. The bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in half leather and half fabric. A nice option is the two-spoke wooden steering wheel. The wooden dashboard features an extensive instrument cluster with various gauges such as oil pressure, temperature gauge, voltmeter and a tachometer. The interior also includes heating and a radio-cassette player.
TECHNICAL
The engine bay looks dry and houses the 1,756 cc four-cylinder engine, which is standardly paired with a manual five-speed gearbox. The tires around have sufficient tread. The car is equipped with a new CSI electronic ignition and recently new spark plugs and a new battery were installed. Additionally, a service with fresh oil was carried out. Notably, thanks to its light weight of 960 kg and rear-wheel drive, it is a pleasure to drive the Spider. The car runs and shifts well.
Advice:
The Fiat was driven little last season; we recommend a new service so you can again cover many kilometers. The tires have enough tread but are aged.

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
