Icon - Christ Pantocrator - Wood - No Reserve

Russian icon depicting Christ Pantocrator. Dateable to the mid-19th century. This is an egg tempera on gypsum ground on a single wooden panel with two horizontal rear hooks. The halo is in silver, coated with a gold lacquer. It measures 27.1 x 22.2 cm. Excellent condition. It was purchased at Hargesheimer Kunstauktionen of Düsseldorf: the world’s leading icon auction, held twice a year. The original purchase documentation is available upon request.
