Description from the seller
Luigi XVI Chest of Drawers – late 18th century – probable Friulian origin
Elegant Luigi XVI chest of drawers from the end of the 18th century, with probable Friulian origin. The piece is made of walnut, with inlay on the fronts of the drawers and on the sides, typical of production from northeastern Italy in the late 18th century.
The structure features five drawers with a batten closure: two smaller upper drawers and three full-depth ones beneath. The mouths and the locks are original, an element that confirms the authenticity of the piece and its consistent front-face conservation.
Over time the chest of drawers has undergone some modifications:
– most probably originally it was a tipping console, then transformed;
– the feet are not contemporaneous with the structure and constitute a later addition.
Condition: the furniture is overall in order; there is a crack on the top panel, while the sides are well preserved. Normal signs of age compatible with the period.
Dimensions:
– Length: 116 cm
– Depth: 61 cm
– Height: 91 cm
Possibility of private transport in Northern Italy, by arrangement.
