LATVIA. 5 lati. 1931.
- Value: 5 lati.
- Year: 1931.
- Inscriptions: Front: LATVIJAS REPUBLIKA. Back: 5 LATI · 1931.
- Grade: MS62 (GBCA).
5-lati silver coin, considered one of the most emblematic issues of the Republic of Latvia during the interwar period. The obverse features the famous allegorical female portrait known popularly as “Milda,” symbol of the Latvian nation, depicted in right profile with braided hair and traditional headdress adorned with stars, in a design of great elegance and artistic refinement. The reverse shows the national coat of arms of Latvia held by a lion and a griffin, crowned by three stars symbolizing the historical regions of the country, together with the denomination of 5 lati and the issue date. The specimen retains full, well-defined reliefs, with abundant original luster visible beneath a soft silver patina. The fields show slight contact marks characteristic of a non-circulating piece, in line with the MS62 grade, maintaining excellent visual presence. This piece constitutes one of the great icons of Baltic numismatics and represents an important testament to Latvian independence prior to World War II.
Disclaimer: For orders shipped outside the European Union, I want to be absolutely clear that I do ship from Spain, which means that if the package is sent to any country outside the European Union, and/or inside the EU that has a special tax agreement (for example: Canary Islands), it might be stopped by your local customs and they might ask you to pay taxes. This is a customs legal procedure and it is completely out of our control. Thanks for your understanding.
