Icon - Feast day icon - Wood - No Reserve

Russian icon of the Resurrection, surrounded by the twelve principal feasts of the Church, with the four Evangelists in the corners, from the late 19th century. This is an egg tempera on gypsum ground on a wooden panel with two rear splines placed at the upper and lower ends. The background is silver plated and covered with a gold lacquer. Slight losses. Measures 30.5 x 25.9 cm. It was purchased at Hargesheimer Kunstauktionen in Düsseldorf, the world’s leading icon auction held twice a year. Original purchase documentation is available upon request.
