Description from the seller
Silver pendant featuring a natural slice cut from a rare stalactitic malachite, selected for material quality, color intensity, and internal structure.
The silver pendant is made with a natural slab derived from a rare stalactitic malachite, chosen for material quality, color depth, and internal structure. The section shows an exceptional sequence of clearly legible concentric bands, the result of slow, layered growth occurring over geological time.
In this specimen, malachite, basic copper carbonate, formed according to stalactitic growth, a phenomenon of relatively uncommon occurrence that develops in underground environments rich in copper-bearing solutions. The mineral progressively precipitates, drop by drop, along cavities and fractures of the rock, giving rise to radial structures and successive rings, akin to organic cross-sections, which make each piece unique.
Natural chrysocolla is present, most notably along the margins and in the more porous areas, recognizable by its blue-green hues. Chrysocolla, a hydrated copper silicate, enhances the pendant both chromatically and mineralogically, creating a harmonious contrast with the deep greens of malachite.
The surface is finely polished to highlight the depth of the bands, while the edge preserves an authentic material texture, testimony to the original stalactite structure. The hand-worked silver setting is essential and functional, designed to support the mineral section without overpowering it.
The pendant sits between jewelry and a collectible object, suitable for collectors of minerals, rare gems, and artisanal jewelry of character.
Unique specimen.
Chromatic variations and inclusions are natural and attest to the authenticity of the stalactitic formation.
