Description from the seller

Stenotype "Grandjean" shorthand typewriter within a fitted case with paper roller and manuals. The typewriter seems to be intact, but may need some cleaning as some keys stuck when pressed, not fully tested though.
Signs of wear and discolouration, handle of the case broken, metal band with the "Grandjean" damaged, please see the photos.

The French version of the stenotype machine was invented by Marc Grandjean in 1909. Designed to phonetically transcribe spoken language at high speeds, the ruggedly built Grandjean became an industry standard for court reporting and legislative transcription across France and other French-speaking regions.
Marc Grandjean demonstrated the incredible speed of the stenotype in a public typing contest in 1928, which is documented as one of the oldest known video recordings of machine shorthand.
