Pair of Italian wall consoles from the 1930s, carved solid pine with hand-painted polychrome floral motifs in baroque/rococo revival style, finished in traditional shellac, dimensions 82 cm high by 75 cm wide by 25 cm deep, about 3 kg total, in good condition with normal signs of age.
Description from the seller
Italian wall console pair from the 1930s, made of carved fir wood and finely hand-decorated with multicolored floral motifs in a Baroque/Rococo-inspired taste.
The pieces feature a sinuous, light silhouette, carved legs and a shaped front fascia, expression of the refined Italian decorative revival of the early twentieth century.
The painted decoration, executed by hand, preserves a pleasant antique patina enhanced by a recent conservative restoration carried out with:
- watercolor touch-ups
- traditional gum varnish finish
- structural consolidation
The consoles are original in all parts except the rear, which has been replaced over time to ensure greater stability.
The photographs show in detail:
- the quality of the manual painting
- the carved leg work
- the surface with natural craquelure and signs of time
- the shine obtained through traditional gum varnish polishing
Perfect as a decorative element for entrances, living rooms, bedrooms or shabby chic and eclectic environments.
Materials
Massive fir wood
Multicolored hand painting
Gum varnish finish
Conditions
Good overall conservative conditions with normal signs of time consistent with age and authenticity of the work.
