Description from the seller

Brief description: Analog 35mm Altix camera (made in Dresden, East Germany) with Tempor shutter and legendary Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 50mm f/2.8 lens. It is a unique piece of functional art (One-of-a-Kind), featuring an authorial aesthetic restoration with an exclusive pattern inspired by Industrial Constructivism of the 1950s/60s, executed applying the Florentine Method by an art restorer with twenty years of experience.

Weight (in kg): Approximately 0.65 kg (the bare body with the Tessar in aluminum mount weighs around 550-600 g; the final estimated weight includes the caps and the new tactile material coating).

Dimensions (in cm): Approximately 12.5 cm (width) x 8.0 cm (height) x 7.5 cm (maximum depth, including the protrusion of the lens).

Material: Chassis in a metal alloy with chrome finishes and optical glass parts. The original external coating (leatherette) has been replaced with a high-performance tactile material backing, tested to be waterproof, resistant to tearing, abrasions, cuts, water and oily substances.

Color (if applicable): Chrome-silver metallic finishes. The decorative graphic pattern features an antique color palette based on mustard yellow, ochre, industrial gray, black and cream white.

Shipping method: Global tracked shipping via premium express couriers (UPS, DHL, FedEx or Poste Italiane/SDA). The lot is shipped with a packaging system and multiple layers of anti-shock cushioning materials to preserve mechanical calibration and optics.

One-of-a-Kind (OOAK) Altix Tempor "Industrial Constructivism" – Authorial Craft Restoration (Tessar 50/2.8)

Description:
A Dresden Precision Masterpiece: The Reimagined 'Altissa' Aesthetic
Acquire a unique piece of photographic history. This is an artistic, customized reinterpretation of the famous Altix (Tempor shutter model), a camera that embodies post-war German ruggedness, today redesigned through the lens of mid-century design.

The Vision and Design: "Industrial Constructivism"
This aesthetic restoration draws inspiration from the cultural and graphic phenomena of East Germany in the 1950s and 1960s. The pattern celebrates the era of industrial reconstruction, where gears, geometries and factory architectures dialogued with the surgical precision of German mechanics. After evaluating and discarding several graphic solutions (including plastified prints that did not offer the desired aesthetic and functional appeal), I selected and dimensioned this specific pattern to the millimeter. The design was studied to maintain ideal visibility and total visual coherence, despite the complex fragmentation of the front panels of the camera.

The Florentine Method Craftsmanship
Restored by a professional with 20 years of experience in high-end antiques and art furniture in Florence, this camera is the manifesto of a new heritage revamping concept.

Total Preparation: Complete removal of the old degraded original leatherette, deep cleaning and decontamination of the chrome chassis to guarantee an impeccable adhesion base.

Material Innovation: In place of standard leather or commercial vinyl, I used a specific high-performance material. This backing guarantees a sophisticated matte finish and a tactile grip markedly superior to industrial synthetic finishes.

Calibration Precision: Applying a customized pattern around the complex front offsets of the Altix requires utmost millimeter precision. Each piece was cut and applied by hand with the meticulous care reserved for a work of art.

Mechanical and Optical Conditions

Tested and Working: The camera is conceived to remain a fully operational photographic instrument.

Legendary Optics: The Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 50mm f/2.8 — the famous "Eagle of Jena" known for its sharpness and era-appropriate contrast — is clean, free from fungus or significant ghosting.

Mechanics: The Tempor shutter timings respond correctly, the advance system and selectors are smooth. Ready to accept your next 35mm film roll.

Why choose this Altix?
The Altix is a classic of analog photography, but this Materia Analogica edition transforms it into a sculptural icon. It is the perfect bridge between German mechanical reliability and the artistic experience of Florentine restoration.

The latest photos of the lot show tests of elasticity, tear resistance, abrasion resistance, cuts and the durability of the waterproof protective treatment against water and oily substances.

Choosing one or more pieces from this collection (composed of 20 customized historic cameras) is a choice of pure cultural value. Also take a look at my other current lots.

"Each camera includes a signed Condition Report and a Restoration Certificate from my Florence studio, attesting to the aesthetic work and the mechanical verification performed."
