Description from the seller
Precious jewelry box in thuya burl, mahogany and bois de rose – Late 19th century
Elegant and refined jewelry box dating to the late 19th century, crafted to the highest standards of European cabinetry of the era. This is an object of notable craftsmanship, characterized by rich burl veneers of thuya, a wood highly prized in luxury manufactories for its spectacular natural grain, consisting of dense eye-like markings and evocative concentric patterns.
The lid features a sophisticated geometric composition made with bois de rose arranged in a herringbone pattern, embellished by elegant inlays in maple and light woods that frame the central panel. The entire piece is further enhanced by refined bronze-gilt borders finely worked, decorative elements that give the whole a dramatic presence of great elegance.
The choice of materials, the precision of the inlays, and the quality of the workmanship all attest to a production aimed at a discerning patronage. The warm amber hue of the burl, combined with the richness of the natural grain, creates decorative effects that vary with the lighting.
The interior, made in mahogany, preserves a sober elegance that further enhances the object's constructive quality. The original lock is present and functioning, while the key is missing.
Particularly appreciable is the splendid patina developed over time, capable of imparting depth and character to the surfaces without compromising decorative legibility. An object that combines functionality, aesthetic taste, and collecting value.
Our interior designer/architect recommends: this box represents a perfect decorative complement for studies, libraries, classic living rooms, or high-level contemporary spaces. Ideal as a jewelry box, container for small precious objects, collectible watches, or simply as a refined decorative element capable of embellishing a desk, a console, or a display cabinet.
The state of conservation is very good for its age. Solid and stable structure, veneers well preserved, original bronzes present, and a pleasing antique patina. Normal and slight traces of time are present, compatible with the age and use of the object.
Dimensions: 17.5 × 12 × 8 cm.
The photos are an integral part of the description. Guaranteed careful packaging entrusted to industry professionals.
