Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
A striking pair of monumental 5-light gilded bronze and brass girandoles in French Baroque/Regence style, each 55.5 cm high, 28 cm wide and 28 cm deep, weighing 4.2 kg per piece (8.4 kg total), from France, in very good original condition with patina and minor oxidation.
Description from the seller
An impressive pair of monumental five-light candelabras (girandoles) in rich French Baroque/Regence style.
As can be seen from the overview, these stately candelabras have a splendid presence and are around the edges exceptionally detailed in finishing.
Each candelabrum is built from a heavy, richly worked base with openwork scrolls and floral motifs. The shaft flows into a graceful vase form with openwork side handles, beautifully captured in detail. The upper section branches into four luxuriantly formed arms around a central candle holder, adorned with acanthus leaves and classical French stylistic elements.
The candelabras are artisanal, made from heavy-quality bronze or brass, finished with a gold-tone fire gilding or high-quality patinated gilding. The undersides show the authentic, old casting structure and the classical screw connections, underscoring the sturdiness and quality of these heavy pieces. An absolute top piece for a classical or eclectic interior.
Condition:
Condition: In very good, authentic condition with attractive age-related patina. No structural defects or restorations visible. Here and there minimal traces of oxidation (green patina in the deeper grooves and on the inside of the base, consistent with age) and light candle wax residues. The construction is solid and sturdy.
Dimensions per candelabrum:
Height: 55.5 cm
Width: 28 cm
Depth: 28 cm
Weight: 4.2 kg each (Total weight: 8.4 kg)
The lot is carefully packaged and sent by registered mail, insured shipping with a track-and-trace number.
Pickup by arrangement also possible.
