Description from the seller

Prehistoric Flint Scraper (Tool) – Les Eyzies, Dordogne (France)

An authentic prehistoric flint scraper (tool), originating from the world-famous region of Les Eyzies (Dordogne, France).

Les Eyzies is internationally known as the absolute core area of European prehistory. This fascinating piece is a tool from the Stone Age with an impressive age estimated between 5,000 and 150,000 years old. It is a scraper that was used at the time for shaping materials such as animal hides, wood, or bone. The artefact shows clear retouch and steep, retouched edges to create a functional working surface. The photographs clearly show how ergonomically the piece sits in the hand.

The scraper features a beautiful, rough ochre-yellowish-brown exterior cortex, which is very typical of flint from the limestone valleys of the Dordogne. This forms a striking contrast with the dark grey, glassy inner flint surface.

A stunning and tangible historical tool for the serious collector of archaeology and lithic material!
