An unusual pair of George III silver candlesticks, each with urn-shaped nozzles on four pillar supports, raised on weighted plinth bases with turned wooden undersides, detachable scones and each bearing an engraved crest Made in London, 1799 (227 years old) Made by ? Fully English hallmarked for sterling silver 925. The dimensions of this fine pair of hand-made antique silver candlesticks are: Length 15 Wide at base 7.6 x 7.6 cm Approx. 275 + 265 = 540 gram (Bruto weight, slightly weighted for stability with materials other then silver) (detachable nozzles weigh 48 grams together). Condition: Good condition. It is hard to believe they are 227 years old. The hallmarks are rubbed. There are no hallmarks on the detachable sconces, which is not uncommon for sconces of this age.
