Leonidas Pre‑Heuer chronograph, manual-wind movement, steel case of about 38 mm, ivory dial with natural patina, peripheral tachymeter scale, and original Leonidas box included.
Description from the seller
Magnificent LEONIDAS chronograph produced in the 1940s, belonging to the period before the merger with Heuer and thus linked to the more sought-after “Pre-Heuer” production.
The example stands out for its extraordinary original ivory-colored dial, enhanced by an authentic patina developed over more than eighty years. The bicompax configuration, the peripheral tachymeter scale, and the elegant Arabic numerals restore all the charm of the great Swiss chronographs of the era.
The stainless steel case measures about 38 mm excluding the crown, an exceptional size for the production period and particularly appreciated by contemporary collectors.
Inside there is a hand-wound Swiss mechanical chronograph movement, expression of the mechanical tradition that made Leonidas chronographs famous around the world.
Particularly interesting is the presence of the Leonidas-branded box, included in the lot and shown in the photographs, an element increasingly difficult to find and highly prized by collectors.
Main features:
* Leonidas Pre-Heuer
* Production in the 1940s
* Hand-wound mechanical chronograph
* Bicompax configuration
* Stainless steel case
* Diameter about 38 mm excluding crown
* Original dial with splendid natural patina
* Peripheral tachymeter scale
* Leonidas-branded box included
Conditions:
The watch presents itself in good overall condition considering its age. The dial, case and movement show normal signs of time consistent with over eighty years of history. It is recommended to carefully study the photographs, which are an integral part of the description.
A rare vintage Swiss chronograph that combines historical charm, aesthetic presence, and collectible importance, coming from one of the maisons that would later contribute to the birth of the legendary Heuer-Leonidas.
