Description from the seller

Free shipping for the following countries: NL, FR, IT, DE, ES, BE, PT, AUS!!!

An early 19th-century liqueur cabinet manufactured during the French Empire period around 1810-1820.
Given the execution, quality and applied (exclusive) materials, this is, very likely, a campaign-style liqueur cabinet made to order for a wealthy officer who took it on his campaigns.

The liqueur cabinet is built from a light (conifer) wood and veneered with the precious exotic Amboyna (root) veneer, which has an exceptionally beautiful grain and a gorgeous warm color!
For protection and also decorative are the brass corner pieces. The key entry and the handle & ornament in the lid have the characteristic shield shape. And on both sides of the liqueur cabinet are finely crafted brass handles inlaid.
The liqueur cabinet still bears its original brass hinges. The keyhole and lock with a working key have at some point been expertly replaced.

Inside there are four hand-blown decanters, which are decorated with refined gold painting of flower & leaf motifs. With use this is more visible on some than on others. One of the decanters has two small chips along the rim. The decanters also bear their silver-plated and engraved nameplates of the liqueurs; Bénédictine, Drambuie, Grand Marnier and Vieille Cure.
The interior is lined with red paper and leather, decorated with gilded piping and stylized flower & leaf motifs. Given the fragility of these materials, they show the expected spots and signs of wear. The edges are veneered with blackened/ebonized ("bois noirci") fruitwood veneer.

This stately liqueur cabinet with a beautiful deep warm gold-orange color and fine luster is a feast for the eye and a pleasure to use for a long time!
