Napoleon III-era travel writing desk in blackened wood, adorned on the lid with an elegant central cartouche and brass-inlaid fillets. The surrounding edge features a carved moulding characteristic of the decorative taste of the Second Empire.

The interior is lined with the original violet velvet and includes a concealed storage compartment that detaches.

The compartment is not attached to the rest, there is considerable wear, the writing desk needs restoration.

Bel écritoire de voyage d'époque Napoléon III en bois noirci, orné sur le couvercle d'un élégant cartouche central et de filets incrustés de laiton. Le pourtour présente une mouluration sculptée caractéristique du goût décoratif du second empire. 

L'intérieur est garni de velours violet d'origine et comporte un compartiment de rangement dissimulé qui s'enlève. 

Le compartiment n'est pas rattaché au reste, il y a de nombreuses usures, l'écritoire à besoin de restauration.

Napoléon III era travel writing desk in blackened wood with gilt brass inlay, of French origin and dating to ca. 1850–1900, measuring 37 cm wide by 14 cm high by 24 cm deep, with a removable concealed compartment and an interior lined in original purple velvet, in fairly good condition but heavily used with some wear and restoration needed.
