Bronze charcoal iron – Professional tailor or laundress model.
Magnificent antique solid bronze charcoal iron dating from the late 19th or early 20th century (Art Nouveau / early industrial period). This large professional model, exceptionally heavy at 4.2 kg, was used by tailors, drapers or professional laundresses for ironing thick fabrics. Its substantial weight allowed excellent results with minimal effort.
Remarkable features:
• Dragon head latch sculpted at the front that rotates to unlock the top lid and access the ember chamber.
• Hollow interior with circular ventilation holes at the base for optimal draft to keep the coals burning.
