Omega automatic bumper from 1952, reference 2635-6, with a 34 mm case in rose gold and steel, honeycomb/egg-shell dial in cream champagne, Dauphine hands, crab-claw lugs and a brown leather strap.
Description from the seller
Rare and elegant Omega Automatic "Bumper" from 1952, a true vintage masterpiece that combines three of the most sought-after and beloved features by collectors of excellence: the honeycomb dial, the imposing Fancy/Crab Claws Lugs, and a magnificent rose gold finish.
Technical and Aesthetic Details:
Reference Number: 2635-6 (engraved inside the original case back)
Movement: In-house Omega mechanical caliber 351 with automatic hammer winding ("Bumper"), a milestone in Swiss horology. Movement serial number: 13144956, which dates the watch precisely to 1952.
Dial: Extraordinary original dial of the era with rare honeycomb texture. The original ivory-white color has uniformly aged over the decades toward a warm and fascinating cream/champagne shade, creating a superb vintage patina free of moisture spotting or blooming. Geometric arrow indices and applied Arabic numerals at 3, 6, 9, and 12 in rose gold, perfectly coordinated with the Dauphine hands. Sharp, pristine chemin de fer minute track.
Case: Noble, personality-rich 34 mm size (excluding crown). Features a solid 18 kt rose gold bezel and a case body with the famous shaped lugs covered by a thick layer of rose gold with the robust Gold-Capped (Coiffe d'or) technique over an underlying steel core. The screw-down case back is the classic Staybrite stainless steel model, original and Omega-punched. Original crown with Omega logo.
Strap: Premium brown crocodile leather (new/excellent condition) with a matching Omega-logo tang buckle.
Condition:
The watch presents in exceptional cosmetic condition for its 70+ years of age. The case retains sharp lines and defined edges, with the rose gold layer intact and free of abrasions exposing the steel underneath. The movement is clean and in excellent preservation condition.
Mechanical note: The movement is running and starts promptly. As this is an original vintage caliber, for optimal starting from a stopped position a light and gentle initial wind via the winding crown is recommended. Water resistance cannot be guaranteed.
Lot for true connoisseurs only.
