About the work:
Involution, 2026
Terracotta
30.50 x 28 x 32 cm.

Terracotta sculpture carved directly by hand without the aid of molds or AI. The new series of praying orangutans.

"Is our prayer a connection or simply a mechanical habit? Stripping away the layers of social legacy to return to the moment before evolution took away our intuition."

CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY: The artwork ships with the artist's certificate of authenticity.

About the artist:
María Eugenia Piacentini (Buenos Aires, 1981), self-taught
from a very young age, feels the vital need to create and recreate
space without time limits, fascinated by materializing
what she visualized only in her mind.
She wanted to study plastic surgery, but finally trained
in Applied Arts to Sculpture at the Escuela de Arte La Palma
in Madrid and at the Francisco Alcántara Ceramic School,
after working in characterization and makeup for special effects
for theater and film. Today she sculpts her pieces
with surgical precision and dazzling delicacy
according to an art critic from Barcelona.

She has exhibited solo and collectively in Mallorca,
Madrid, Teruel, Valladolid, Zaragoza, Ourense, Rome,
Miami, Paris, Zurich, Singapore, Coburg and Munich, with four
recognitions as finalist in ceramic works in Spain and in Australia
(CERCO, Beautiful Bizarre Art Magazine) and one of her most famous pieces, "Wolf light", will participate in the Gyeonggi International Ceramic Biennale in South Korea, exhibited at the Ceramic Museum of Korea until February 2027.

Piacentini: "Art wakes us from a deep dream, throwing us free and conscious into a world that normally does not seem so." Influenced by Carl Jung, Joseph Campbell and surrealism, she uses ceramics for its spontaneity, letting the work flow on its own, perhaps pursuing or confessing existential doubts.

Her work reflects a cultural and social milestone, manifesting the subconscious and a shared world of magical ideas with an emphasis on inner strength despite human vulnerability. Reality speaks through synchronicities and meaningful dreams, urging her to explore beyond. Through paradox and irreverent imagery she highlights gestures and forms that can communicate symbolism, emotion, narrative, or raw energy. She uses realism and deep expression to impact and awaken the audience from her dream.”

Seller's Story

I have been primarily a sculptor since I was young. I express through realism, movement, and deep expression what we don't usually see. Detail-oriented and dreamy, I offer my works to accompany everyday life. Unique, one-of-a-kind pieces in ceramic and porcelain.
