Description from the seller
Rare and hard-to-find integrated amplifier produced by AC Magnum Ltd in the late 1980s in perfect condition.
One owner. Original condition (never repaired, never tampered with), drives difficult speakers with ease, such as my AR6.
AC Magnum LTD - born in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s. Production was overseen by Colin Wonfor (Inca Tech Claymore) and Tony Relph (REGA), a small-sized company located in Hampshire.
Unlike the large mass producers, Magnum focused on a minimalist philosophy: simple circuits, short signal paths, and high-quality components. IA 100 (Integrated Amplifier 100) represented the top tier of their line of integrated amplifiers.
Internal Construction: Class AB with Hitachi MOSFET output stage.
Power: 75/80 Watts per channel (into 8 Ohms), a substantial power 100 W rms continuous for an amp of its era, capable of driving even demanding speakers with ease.
Dynamics: Has a great ability to handle sudden peaks in music without hardening the sound.
Timbre: Warm but detailed.
Phono Stage: (MM/MC) of excellent quality, highly appreciated by vinyl enthusiasts.
Toroidal transformer of generous size 300-400 VA.
Capacitor Bank: 4 main capacitors of 4700 µF at 50 V.
Frequency response: 10 Hz – 40 kHz.
Craft Production: A.C. Magnum assembled the circuits often in small batches. this is batch number 11 77.
The Hitachi MOSFETs: 2SK134 / 2SJ49 – famous for having a "perceived power" much higher than stated, thanks to their ability to handle high currents.
