Description from the seller

Ancient wooden tailoring protractor and square - Comm. E. Vianelli (C.I.M.S. Mestre) - 1950s
Fascinating and rare professional tool for vintage tailoring, dating to the mid-20th century (1950s). This wooden protractor/square made of precious wood was the tool of choice for the master tailors and pattern-makers of the era, produced by the famous firm of Comm. E. Vianelli of Mestre (Venice). The object bears on the central body original ink stamps perfectly legible, authenticating the provenance from C.I.M.S. (Center for Training Pattern Makers), complete with Patent Number No. 33895. The tool retains all its graduated scales and the incised technical markings (including the curves for calculating the sleeve circumference), used for developing patterns with the proportional method. A piece of history of Italian haute tailoring, ideal for modernist collectors, fashion designers, or as a vintage display element for studios and shop windows.Conditions
Condition: Good overall condition, structurally solid. Signs of time: It shows a fascinating patina and slight signs of surface wear consistent with age and professional use (small bloomings on the wood or local discolorations), which do not compromise the beauty and readability of the historic marks.Notice for details: carefully observe the photographic gallery which forms an integral part of the description.
