Description from the seller
Late-1960s Murano opal glass lamp. The design is characterized by a distinctive 'bubbles' or 'cage' effect, where a blown white opal glass diffuser is enclosed in a geometric black metal frame with circular motifs. This particular processing creates a tactile and visual contrast typical of Mid-Century Modern aesthetics. Produced between 1960 and 1970.
This type of opal glass has the ability to diffuse light softly. Opal glass was invented in Murano. New, in perfect condition, with a very robust cage and with glass of notable thickness. Lamp height: 38 cm, diameter: 18 cm, height with chain: 92 cm. Weight: 2.5 kg. Functional and wired to standard. The light through opal glass diffuses better and more evenly than with clear glass.
