White cotton piquet bedspread for a double bed, made in Italy, dating to 1910–1920, measuring 198 cm by 184 cm, in good used condition with minor age-related marks, no pillow cases included, one item.
Description from the seller
Splendid double-bed quilt in brocade cotton with piquet loom weaving. The piquet weaving is a process that creates fabrics with raised patterns, obtained through a special weave using a double warp or raised threads. It achieves a raised texture through a two-weft weave that adds thickness and a material look to the fabric. The dimensions, for precision, are 198 cm long and 184 cm wide, with an 8 cm fringe made from double cotton.
Nice to use with a solid-color bedspread that reaches the floor and above it. A quilt unlike the usual ones, entirely made by weaving.
In the center a rectangular rosette with flowers woven on the four sides and a decoration that echoes the floral motif on the three sides that descend along the sides and on the band covering the cushion.
It is all one large embroidery, which gives the object a special value. In this part the flowers are denser and smaller.
The floral embroidery is present on all parts, including the corners, while on the straight part of the cushion there is a line of diamonds.
It has always been used with the utmost care and it forms part of my family's quilt set that I am selling because of its abundance.
Although the quilt is over a century old, it shows no stains or signs other than those of time.
Note that it is a used and washed item.
I always ship with private couriers, not the postal service, to ensure good packaging and timely delivery. Consider that the quilt has its own weight, which attests to its value.
Shipping costs vary depending on whether it is Europe, zone 1 or 2 (such as the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Eastern countries) and zone 3 (such as Malta, Cyprus, Norway) and the rest of the world.
Customs duties will be borne by the buyer.
