Polychrome depiction of Mary with a blooming lily branch, a symbol of purity. This model by Parentani bears on the front of the pedestal the title “Vierge au Lys.” Mary is depicted with downcast eyes and holds the lilies against her chest. What’s distinctive about this edition is the finely modeled face. The slightly bowed posture, the subtly painted eyes, and the well‑groomed facial features are among the strongest elements of this model. The dark blue cloak with gilded finish contrasts with the red garment.

Height 66 cm; in good condition with signs of use, localized wear to the polychromy and some small paint losses; signed GH Parentani Frères Bruxelles on the side and rear of the base.

G. & H. Parentani Frères was a Brussels workshop for religious statues and church ornaments, located in Vorst and active around 1900 and in the first half of the 20th century. The workshop produced among other things church statues, nativity scenes and devotional sculptures in plaster, intended for churches, schools and private devotion.
