Daum Nancy scent bottle in multicoloured cammeo glass with silver-mounted cap and external cup, circa 1905, Art Nouveau, green marbleised base fading to amber and orange hues, excellent condition with original internal screw cap and protective outer cap.
Description from the seller
Exclusive cylindrical perfume bottle (or salt-cellar holder) in multistratified glass, a masterpiece of the prestigious Daum Manufacture of Nancy, dating from the period 1900-1910. The piece stands out for its rare complete silver mounting finely chased with raised floral motifs.
The bottle is a sublime example of the most luxurious "usage glass":
- Multistratified Glass and "Vitrifications": The body features a splendid apple-green marmored base, achieved with glass-powder inclusions, fading into amber and brown-orange tones toward the top.
- Cameo and Enamels Decoration: The floral decoration (probably tulips) is created through acid etching and subsequently hand-finished with polychrome enamels, giving the design a tactile and vibrant texture.
- Double Original Mounting: The bottle comes complete with its internal screw cap (for hermetic seal) and an external protective cap in silver, "glass-like" with a coordinated base, both decorated with refined chased floral motifs.
- Satin Finish: The glass surface is entirely treated with acid to obtain a velvety, opaque (matte) appearance.
Author: Daum Nancy (marked with the Lorena Cross engraved on the base).
Era: Circa 1905 (Art Nouveau).
Condition: Excellent. Glass intact with no chips or cracks. The metal mountings are original, functional, and show a beautiful antique patina. Legible signature.
Complete Daum bottles with all their original metal parts are extremely rare to find. The combination of cameo smoked glass and worked silver places this piece in an elite market tier, making it a safe investment.
