Description from the seller
Large white marble altar consecration slab – with a reliquary cavity and sealed relic – France or Papal States, 19th century
Veined white marble liturgical plaque, engraved with the date 1893 and adorned with five consecration crosses finely sculpted in shallow relief. This type of stone was traditionally integrated into a consecrated altar, the five crosses recalling the five wounds of Christ and the anointing points made during the rite of dedication.
The lower part features a cavity intended to receive the relics prescribed during the altar’s consecration, sealed by an ecclesiastical red wax seal.
The seal, although showing normal wear, remains in place and constitutes an important element of authenticity.
Dimensions: 40 cm x 40 cm
Condition: Beautiful liturgical wear, slightly scratched surface, some antique chips, very beautiful mineral patina
The photos are an integral part of the object description and complement its presentation. They allow you to appreciate its condition and features. Please examine them carefully before any commitment
The item will be carefully packed and shipped with a tracking number to ensure fast and secure delivery.
