Description from the seller
This sculpture presents a group of elongated, abstract human figures rendered in a style strongly reminiscent of Giacometti’s iconic aesthetic. Cast in dark iron, the figures are attenuated and skeletal, with rough, textured surfaces that emphasize fragility and movement. Their limbs are disproportionately long and thin, with subtly distorted proportions that give a sense of both tension and forward motion.
The figures appear to be walking together across a shared rectangular base, each captured mid-stride. Despite their collective direction, each form retains an individual posture—some leaning forward more aggressively, others more upright—creating a rhythm of motion and quiet isolation within the group. Their heads are small, almost featureless, enhancing the anonymity and universality of the human condition often explored in Giacometti-inspired works.
The overall composition conveys themes of movement, passage, and existential solitude, even within a crowd. The raw iron finish adds weight and permanence, contrasting with the delicate, almost eroded appearance of the bodies, resulting in a striking balance between solidity and transience.
