Description from the seller

MACAO. 1 Pataca. 1952.

- Value: 1 Pataca
- Year: 1952
- Inscriptions: Obverse: MACAU · 1 PATACA. Reverse: PORTUGUESE REPUBLIC · 1952
- Grade: MS66 (NGC)

Portuguese colonial coin minted for the Macao territory, one of the last European possessions in Asia. On the obverse the coat of arms of Portugal appears over a background of an armillary sphere, a symbol of the Portuguese discoveries, accompanied by the denomination and the territory’s designation. The reverse presents the official legend of the issuing country and the year of minting, together with the same heraldic shield. This 1 Pataca piece combines European influence with Chinese characters, reflecting the multicultural context of the region at that time. Its high grade MS66 denotes an exceptional condition, with original luster and sharp details.

Disclaimer: For orders shipped outside the European Union, I want to be absolutely clear that I do ship from Spain, which means that if the package is sent to any country outside the European Union, and/or inside the EU that has a special tax agreement (for example: Canary Islands), it might be stopped at your local customs and you might be asked to pay taxes. This is a customs legal procedure and it is completely out of our control. Thanks for your understanding.
