Decorative garden planter in the form of a 70 cm tall brass column, with a central resin faux tortoiseshell panel, made in France in the 1960s in good used condition with minor signs of age, dimensions 70 × 20 × 20 cm.
Description from the seller
A large-format planter conceived as a decorative column, a piece that fits perfectly with that exuberant, glamorous, and theatrical taste inherent to the Regence reinterpreted through Hollywood Regency, where luxury becomes scenographic and the shiny materials dialogue with rich and sensual surfaces.
The upper and lower structures are made of gilded brass, with a warm, enveloping glow that gives the piece its ornamental air, designed to stand out. The mounts, slightly flared, read almost like capitals and stylized bases, reinforcing the architectural reading of the piece.
At the central body appears the great aesthetic gesture: a resin surface worked to imitate tortoiseshell, with deep veins, reddish and brown tones that recall mid-20th-century luxury objects. That tortoiseshell effect, so characteristic of cinematic glamour, adds visual depth and an exquisite contrast with the gold of the metal.
The whole functions as a decorative totem, elegant and striking, capable of supporting a plant, a light sculpture, or simply serving as a visual accent in a living room, a lobby, or a sophisticated corner. It is a piece that combines reinterpreted classicism, shine, theatricality, and a touch of exotism, very much in line with Hollywood’s taste for noble materials and opulent textures.
