Description from the seller
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Notre-Dame de Paris — the cathedral that survived eight centuries, two world wars, a revolution, and the fire of 2019. Painted here in lavender, ice blue and bursts of orange, the façade carries everything: the twin towers, the rose window, the gallery of kings, every gothic arch cut by hand. A monument that means Paris to the world, and that reopened its doors in late 2024 after one of the most ambitious restoration projects in modern history. A statement piece for collectors who love Paris, gothic architecture, or simply the idea of something that refuses to fall.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Alexandre Petrus has built one of the most distinctive signatures in contemporary stencil art: the hand-cut double-layer stencil. Two stencils — one for shadow, one for light — laid over a freely painted abstract background. The technique is precise, the execution is instinctive, and no two artworks are ever the same.
Over 450 originals collected in more than 10 countries. Live painting commissions for Disneyland Paris and major corporate clients. Featured in French street art festivals (Grimaud, Perpignan, Venelle) and currently exhibited at Galerie Spot 72 in Le Mans. Alexandre Petrus is at the turning point where artists shift from emerging to established — and the value of his work is following the same curve.
Each piece is signed front and back, varnished, delivered with a certificate of authenticity, and marked with the "AP" monogram — his two initials fused into a smiling face. Every stencil he cuts by hand is retired after a small series, never mass-produced, never repeated indefinitely — a deliberate choice that keeps each piece scarce and protects its value. A signature that says everything about his approach: precise, joyful, and never repeated twice.
SHIPPING
The artwork is carefully wrapped in bubble wrap and protective plastic film, then secured in a custom-sized cardboard box for safe international transit. The signed certificate of authenticity is included inside the package.
