Description from the seller
An exceptionally elegant, 2-piece Victorian fish serving knife and fork set. This set represents the height of 19th-century British dining luxury, featuring highly decorative craftsmanship and its rare original presentation box.
Design & Craftsmanship: Both pieces showcase breathtaking artistry. The knife blade features intricate pierced (openwork) scrolling and extensive, fine hand-engraving with floral and acanthus leaf motifs. The fork features a beautiful pierced heart design at its center, accented by delicate hand-engraved leaves.
Solid Silver Hallmarks: The ferrules (the metal bands between the handles and the blades) are crafted from Solid 925 Sterling Silver. They bear the official British hallmarks: the maker’s mark "GH" (Harrison Brothers & Howson / George Howson), the Sheffield Crown, the Lion Passant (guaranteeing .925 silver purity), and the Victorian date letter.
Blades & Maker Marks: The plated blades are stamped with the prestigious "HB & H" maker's mark for Harrison Brothers & Howson, a renowned cutlery firm based in Sheffield, England, who held a Royal Warrant.
Handles & Presentation: Fitted with classic, smooth handles showing a beautiful natural grain texture. The set comes complete in its original, fabric-lined presentation case with a vibrant Royal Blue velvet and silk interior.
