Description from the seller
1 page.
Rare Hebrew manuscript on parchment, dated from the 17th century to the early 18th century, probably a ketubah / Jewish marriage contract with a section of tenaïm.
The term tenaïm denotes the conditions and commitments set between the families before or at the time of the marriage: financial arrangements, reciprocal obligations, dowry, modalities of the union and legal commitments related to the marriage according to traditional Jewish practice.
The manuscript presents a large calligraphic opening formula, “Be-simana tava ou-ve-mazala ma‘alya”, as well as a section explicitly titled “Ha-Tenaïm” (“the conditions”), which confirms the matrimonial and legal nature of the document.
An ancient, rare and particular piece, precious witness to the Jewish legal and family culture of the modern era. The document retains its parchment support, its period handwriting, as well as elements of validation / handwritten marks and a visible seal. Worn state with folds, losses, holes and wear, but overall remaining highly evocative and of great historical, documentary and collectible interest.
