Pros
Excellent recording and playback quality for its era.
Very stable transport performance (low wow & flutter).
Rugged build quality (over 10 kg).
Classic silver Pioneer look with attractive Fluoroscan lighting.
Suitable for high-quality Metal tapes.
Considerations when purchasing
Because these decks are now over 45 years old:
Belts and idler rubbers are often worn.
Reel motors and transport mechanism may require revision.
Fluoroscan displays can become less bright.
A refurbished unit is considerably more valuable than an unrefurbished one.
In short: the Pioneer CT-F950 is regarded as a highly sought-after vintage cassette deck with excellent sound quality, a beautiful appearance, and collector’s value. If it is technically sound, it can still deliver performances that match many much later cassette decks.
