Table lamp in carved wood with gold leaf finish, in Baroque antique style, dating from 1850–1900.
Description from the seller
Shield-shaped table lamp – Hand-carved wood gilded with gold leaf – Baroque style – Italy, late 19th / early 20th century
Fascinating table lamp crafted in the 20th century by reusing an antique decorative element in hand-carved and gold-leafed wood. The base, clearly inspired by Baroque design, features a volute structure with lion-paw feet and a central raised decoration (masque or stylized emblem).
Technical and Construction Details
Base: Made of hand-carved wood with gold leaf finish and bole preparation. The patina of time is evident, giving the piece an authentic historical charm.
Lampshade: Shield-shaped form, covered in damask fabric with raised floral motifs in gold and bronze tones, finished with gold trim along the edges.
Electrification: The lamp was electrified later (mid-20th century). It houses a socket with a faux candle and a decorative filament bulb (included). The wiring is vintage but functional (a technical check for conformity with modern standards is recommended).
Dimensions
Total height: 64 cm
Lampshade width: 40 cm
Base depth: 20 cm
Condition Report
The item is in good vintage condition, with normal signs of aging that attest to its originality:
Wood: Small losses of gilding and of the plaster preparation (visible in the photos), typical of antique gold-on-wood furnishings.
Fabric: The lampshade shows some slight wear or staining due to age, which do not detract from the overall aesthetics but add character to the piece.
Structure: Solid and stable.
