Fascinating edition! This is a first hardcover print run, published by George Allen & Unwin in 1977. This is the edition printed by William Clowes and without a price on the dust jacket, rarer than the Billings edition.
In near mint condition with no inscriptions, in a dust jacket in very good condition with a few minor scratches -
The Silmarillion is a collection published of the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, edited and published posthumously by his son Christopher, with the help of fantasy writer Guy Gavriel Kay.
It is the principal source of the ancient history of Middle-earth and the First Age, and of the downfall of the Kingdom of Númenor. “The Silmarillion” is also a general term referring to the entire corpus of these narratives, at all stages of development and modification by Tolkien from the 1910s until his death, from which the content of The Silmarillion was drawn.
