Description from the seller

Pharmacy apothecary 'Scavo' in artistic Murano glass – 1970s

Elegant apothecary vase meticulously handmade in Murano in the seventies, characterized by the evocative 'scavo' effect technique, inspired by the appearance of ancient artifacts unearthed by time.

The glass, in delicate ivory and honey tones, is enriched by refined hand-applied gold decorations that frame the central inscription and give the piece a refined, timeless charm. The surface intentionally has a soft, slightly aged appearance, a distinctive element of this particular decorative technique.

The lid, finished with an elegant hand-sculpted knob in the shape of a fruit, recalls the Venetian apothecary vase tradition, turning this object into a precious furnishing and collector's piece.

Each piece is unique: slight variations in glass shading, in the distribution of the decorations, or in the surface finishes are the result of artisanal workmanship and represent the authentic value of a piece made entirely by hand.

A decorative piece of great charm, ideal for enriching both classic and contemporary interiors with the discreet elegance of antique artistic glass.

Dimensions: approximately 39 x 16 cm
Era: 1970s
Material: Murano art glass
Finish: scavo effect with hand-applied gold decorations
Manufacturing: handmade entirely by the master glassmakers of Murano
Use: decorative and collectible object.

Seller's Story

I was born and raised on the island of Murano, where glass is not simply a material, but a tradition that is lived every day. Since childhood I breathed in the warmth of the furnaces and watched the master glassmakers transform incandescent matter into shapes, colors and light. C growing up in Murano means learning early to recognize the value of true artistic glass: weight, transparency, murrine, the small imperfections that make each piece unique. This knowledge, developed in a family and artisanal setting, today allows me to select only authentic works, handmade on the island according to traditional techniques. Each creation I present – vases, sculptures, decorative objects and lamps – is born from entirely manual work, without industrial molds. Color, shape and texture variations are not defects, but the signature of the artisan who made each single piece. All works come with a certificate of authenticity, guaranteeing their origin and quality. My objective is to offer not mere objects, but authentic fragments of Murano’s history, destined to endure over time and to bring into my clients’ homes the beauty and value of Venetian craftsmanship.
