Set of 12 water glasses, produced in Italy. Thick, colorless lead crystal glass, mouth-blown, faceted, cut. This piece rests on an octagonal base: instead of a standard round base, a thick, heavy, faceted geometric base. Stem (baluster style) with a stepped structural ring (or knop), giving the glass a good grip, a truncated conical dome with a vertical octagonal flat cut, with the lower cross-diamond facet creating a prism effect, catching light with broad movement. Unknown producer. Condition: Discontinued. About: 1960. Probably produced by the historic crystal glassmaker MARIOCIONI. Mario Cioni, who began in 1958 in Tuscany and took the company’s founder’s name, is known for lines inspired by the classical standards of high artistic crystal.
