Votive Celtic limestone head.
Round-backed sculpture presenting a large head of a man,
Cleaned visage, almond-shaped eyes in bas-relief, the scaphoid nose in a broad flattened rectangle and the mouth in light relief.
Dimensions: height 19.5 cm - width 14.8 cm - weight 4.6 kg
Trace of an old mounting at the back
Dating: 2nd century BCE – 1st century CE
Comes from a collection acquired on the British art market from various auction houses and collections, mainly before 2000.
Originating from a significant estate in Cambridgeshire; transmitted by descent.
The seller can prove that the lot was legally obtained, provenance statement seen by Catawiki.
