BABYLONIAN CYLINDER SEAL
Large white stone cylinder seal dating from the second millennium BCE.
The seal features a decoration of stylized long-necked birds, wings spread.
One has its head held high, with a crest above it, while the other lowers its long beak.
Length 2.2 cm - diameter 1.1 cm
Comes from a major collection of 13 Near Eastern cylinder seals from Jemdet Nasr period to the Neo-Assyrian period – Approximately 2900–800 BCE.
Previously in a collection formed on the British/International art market in the 1990s.
Expertised by Alessandro Neri, Chimera Heritage Consultants, Italy
