Description from the seller
Refined Macau porcelain set consisting of a decorative teapot and a delicate eggshell porcelain cup with saucer.
The teapot is made in the Famille Rose style, recognizable by its rich polychromy, Oriental scenes and elaborate floral motifs, inspired by traditional export Chinese porcelain. It features an upper wicker handle and finely enameled decoration.
The cup and saucer are made in fine translucent eggshell porcelain and stand out for being hand-painted, with delicate floral motifs and birds in vivid colors. At the base appears the mark “Fabricado em Macau.”
Due to the style, the mark “Fabricado em Macau,” the decoration and the type of porcelain, I would place the pieces roughly between:
- Late 1960s and 1970s for the eggshell cup and saucer.
- 60s–70s also for the Famille Rose teapot.
The important detail is precisely the Portuguese inscription “Fabricado em Macau,” very typical of export-oriented production during the Portuguese administration of Macau, especially between 1950 and 1980.
Additionally:
The eggshell porcelain enjoyed a huge tourist and export boom in the 1960s–70s.
The Famille Rose decoration on the teapot closely matches decorative reproductions from that era.
The handle is also very characteristic of pieces exported in the 70s.
A very decorative and elegant set, ideal for collectors of Oriental porcelain, Asian vintage pieces, or lovers of Macau’s handcrafted Chinese porcelain.
Overall condition good, in keeping with its age. The teapot spout shows wear/restoration visible at the tip (see photographs).
Contents:
1 teapot in Famille Rose style
1 hand-painted eggshell porcelain cup
1 matching saucer
Origin: Macau
Material: Fine glazed porcelain
