Description from the seller
Exclusive Vintage Cascading Ceiling Lamp in Cascata – A Masterpiece of Murano Glass and Gold-Turnished Brass (1960s/1970s)
6 light points, very large and heavy.
A truly singular lighting piece that encapsulates the opulence and bold design of the Mid-Century Modern period. This sumptuous cascade lamp is a celebration of European high craftsmanship from the 1960s and 1970s, combining an architectural aesthetic with the delicacy of artisanal glass work.
Cascading Glass Architecture: Composed of three concentric, stepped levels, the lamp uses hundreds of solid glass rods to create a clean, dramatic waterfall effect with rare crystal florets.
The key distinguishing feature of this artistic piece lies in the delicate, faceted crystal flowers/rosettes superimposed on the glass rods. Each florete functions as an individual prism, splitting light into multiple sparkling reflections, a rare ornamental detail for this type of design.
Although the model stands out for its exclusivity — suggesting custom production or a very limited run — its aesthetic elements immediately evoke the most prestigious luxury lighting houses of the 20th century.
The pure geometric lines and the arrangement of the tubes in levels faithfully follow the Gaetano Sciolari school, the legendary Italian designer who redefined Hollywood Regency lighting.
The purity of the rods and the refinement of the floral rosettes share the masterful techniques of Murano glass masters (Italy).
A coveted piece for collectors and interior designers, perfect to crown a sumptuous dining room, an imposing entrance hall, or a contemporary space that demands a genuine luxury focal point. A rare opportunity to acquire a historic decorative element where light becomes pure art.
Note some subtle “scratches” in the gold that are not visible at first glance. And the glue on the floretes gives them a slightly yellowed color, very lovely in its own way.
I do not ship outside Europe.
It will be packed with great care and shipped with tracking. Rest assured I know how to package this item so it reaches you in the best condition. Tracking will be updated on your Catawiki purchase page; please check regularly to avoid the package being returned to me, in which case the buyer will be responsible for the cost of any additional shipment.
It will be superbly packed; I will try to ship with the pendants in place, but if they are considered at risk of breaking, I may have to remove them for transport, and they will need to be reinserted by the buyer. It is the buyer’s responsibility to reattach them into their slots.
