Nigeria / Vere Sword. / Authentic Piece

Rare ceremonial dagger wek suktunkak of Vere culture. Excavated object, which explains why the iron blade is very degraded by oxidation.
Scabbard and handle in bronze alloy.
A collectible item now very rare for this quality and antiquity.

The wek suktunkak is the vernacular name of a traditional dagger and its scabbard, made by the Vere people (also called Verre or Were) in Nigeria, near the border with Cameroon.

Presumed antiquity / early 20th century or earlier..
Authentic piece used in tribal use.

Provenance / Personal collection gathered over more than thirty years.
