Description from the seller

Important antique carved wooden candelabrum transformed into a lamp — Italy, late 18th century

Important and elegant antique carved wooden candelabrum, probably of Italian manufacture, datable to the end of the 18th century.

The object originally originates as a decorative candelabrum/candlestick and was probably intended for ecclesiastical or liturgical settings, as suggested by its monumental structure, the tripodal carved base, the Baroque decorative language, and the overall proportions.

Later, in the course of the 20th century (likely the 1950s–60s), the candelabrum was electrified and transformed into a decorative lamp, while fully retaining the original ancient structure. The conversion is reversible and the object can be restored to its original candlestick configuration.

The structure is entirely made of hand-carved wood, with rich decoration in vegetal motifs, Rococo scrolls, and a shaped base of great plastic quality. The surface still preserves splendid original silvered/gilded finishes, with an antique patina extremely fascinating and authentic.

The bottom photographs clearly show:
• the original wooden construction,
• the traditional plaster preparation,
• and the ancient decorative techniques.

The subsequent electrification functions perfectly. The holder, wiring, and switch belong to a 20th-century intervention, as commonly occurred for ancient candelabra transformed into decorative lamps.

Condition:
The object presents exceptionally well-preserved conditions for its age. The structure is stable, intact and extraordinarily well preserved. The silvered/gilded finishes are still very present and harmonious, with no significant missing parts or evident defects.

Only very slight and natural signs of time remain, almost imperceptible, consistent with the piece’s antiquity and visible only upon close inspection.

The only small visible intervention consists of a hole made in the upper part for the passage of the electrical wire during the subsequent electrification, clearly visible in the photographs. This detail does not compromise either the aesthetics or the stability of the object and allows, if desired, a possible restoration to the original candlestick configuration.

Measurements:
• Total height with lampshade: 107 cm
• Height of the candelabrum itself: 72 cm
• Diameter of the upper dish: 11 cm
• Base width: 20 cm
• Height of the decorated base: 23 cm
• Lampshade: height 43 cm
• Lampshade width: 49 cm

An object with great stage presence and strong decorative impact, ideal for historic houses, sacred art collections, classical interior design or prestigious environments.

Shipping will be carried out with the utmost care and professionalism. The object will be carefully packed with adequate protective materials to ensure maximum safety during transport and will be shipped directly to the recipient’s home or to the nearest pick-up point for the buyer.
