Description:
Antique French mantel clock in the classic Portico style with twisted Solomonic columns. Period: Napoleon III, circa 1850-1870.

The case is ebonized wood with fine Boulle marquetry in gilt brass, mother-of-pearl and colored inlays in red and blue. Decorative floral motifs on the base, frieze and arched top.

Fronted by a white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, set in a richly cast and gilded bronze bezel with a female mask at the top. Fitted with an ornate gilt bronze pendulum with a female mask in relief. Inscription visible on the back of the pendulum. Strikes the hours and half-hours on a bell. Key included.

Condition:
Good antique condition with minor wear consistent with age. Boulle marquetry intact, no chips or losses to the inlays. Gilding on bronze well preserved. Movement complete and in working order. Keeps time and strikes correctly.
