Description from the seller

Obsidian is a volcanic glass whose formation results from the rapid cooling of lava, always rich in silicate ions. Obsidian is a natural glass, entirely similar to man-made glass.

Raw material highly sought in antiquity for the manufacture of sharp tools (predominantly knives) and was one of the commodities that fueled the trade in the Mediterranean and sustained the economic life of the mining sites. Today it is still worked into small decorative objects, jewelry, scalpel blades.

Splendid sphere of obsidian, originating from Mexico.

Weight: 1710 g
